About the role#
The Vetco Total Care DVM Externship provides veterinary students with hands-on experience in a state-of-the-art hospital environment. You will work under the direct supervision of a skilled veterinarian to develop your clinical, surgical, and diagnostic skills while exploring future career paths in veterinary medicine. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position with a rolling term.
What you'll do#
- Work closely with a mentor for guidance and the development of hands-on veterinary experience.
- Learn the components of a physical examination.
- Observe and assist during surgical procedures.
- Develop technical skills including blood draws, urine analysis, and other diagnostic tasks.
- Ensure the safety of pets, clients, and team members by strictly adhering to medical standard operating protocols.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an AVMA accredited veterinary program.
- Proof of medical and professional liability insurance.
- Strong observational and communication skills.
- A willingness to learn and the ability to take direction.
- The ability to identify, analyze, and provide solutions to clinical challenges.

- Compensation: $20.50 - $33.00 per hour.
