About the role#
Petcare Veterinary Clinic offers a DVM externship program for students to gain practical experience in a small animal practice. This program supports your clinical education by providing hands-on training under the supervision of a mentor doctor. You will work alongside our veterinary team to participate in patient care and meet the learning objectives defined by your college. We provide a stipend of $250 per week for the duration of your stay.
What you'll do#
Externs participate in the daily caseload of a small animal practice. Your responsibilities include:
- Gathering histories and performing physical examinations.
- Developing diagnostic and therapeutic plans.
- Scrubbing in to surgery.
- Assisting in the management of medical cases.
- Providing wellness care.
- Developing client communication skills.
- Polishing technical skills.
- Producing appropriate medical records (SOAPs).
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Professional liability insurance (you must submit a certificate of coverage).
Location & details#
- Location: Roseville, California.
- Modality: On-site.
- Term: Rolling, with rotations typically lasting two to three weeks (flexible from two to eight weeks).
- Schedule: Includes days, evenings, and weekends.
