About the role#
We are looking for an Applied AI Engineer Intern to join our team. You will work on real-world applications of AI, focusing on product specifications, recommendation systems, and agentic workflows. This role offers the chance to build, evaluate, and ship AI systems that solve complex, messy data problems in the construction industry.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to AI initiatives from initial problem framing through experimentation and implementation.
- Build, prototype, and iterate on models and AI-powered workflows for customer-facing features.
- Partner with Senior Applied AI Engineers and Product Managers to translate customer needs into technical approaches.
- Analyze structured and unstructured data, including product specifications and metadata, to improve model performance.
- Document your assumptions, results, and learnings to help the team make informed decisions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a US-based, degree-seeking program in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Familiarity with core ML/AI concepts, including model training (LoRA/QLoRA), embeddings, RAG systems, and agentic frameworks like LangGraph or CrewAI.
- Experience with ranking and recommendation techniques.
- Hands-on experience applying AI or machine learning to real-world projects, including working with imperfect data.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in ambiguous spaces.
- Clear communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Exposure to B2B SaaS products or construction industry workflows is a plus.

- This is a full-time, paid internship based in San Mateo, California.
- The role follows a hybrid work model.
