About the role#
Parkville Animal Hospital offers externship and preceptorship rotations for veterinary students. This program provides practical experience in a small animal practice to help you prepare for clinical work after graduation. You will work alongside our veterinary team under the supervision of a mentor doctor. We offer flexible rotations ranging from two to eight weeks, though most students choose two or three weeks. Your schedule will include a mix of days, evenings, and weekends. We provide a stipend of $250 per week.
What you'll do#
- Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans for medical cases.
- Scrub in to surgery and assist in patient management.
- Provide wellness care for patients.
- Build client communication skills and refine technical abilities.
- Document care by producing medical records, such as SOAPs.
- Participate in daily patient care activities while following professional and ethical standards.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Proof of professional liability insurance.
