About the role#
As an Engineering Intern at Panthalassa, you will work on technical problems that support the development and scaling of our Node technology. You will join experienced engineers, technicians, and operators to build, test, and improve systems designed to function in harsh ocean conditions. We expect interns to take ownership of their assigned work, learn quickly, and contribute to our team goals.
What you'll do#
- Own and execute a technical project with guidance from team members.
- Apply engineering fundamentals to solve problems.
- Build, test, troubleshoot, or improve physical or software systems.
- Analyze technical data to inform engineering or process decisions.
- Create clear documentation for designs, analyses, test results, or process records.
- Participate in technical reviews and communicate findings, tradeoffs, and recommendations.
- Proactively communicate progress and blockers.
- Incorporate feedback and adapt as project requirements evolve.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in engineering, computer science, physics, or a related technical field.
- Strong technical fundamentals and demonstrated experience through coursework, research, internships, student teams, or independent projects.
- Ability to solve problems where requirements may be ambiguous.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Authorization to work in the United States for the duration of the internship.
- Experience in areas such as mechanical design, CAD, manufacturing engineering, software development, or hardware testing is helpful but not required.
- Experience with machining, fabrication, welding, or prototyping is a plus.
- Participation in technical teams like Formula SAE, robotics, or rocketry is valued.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site internship located in Portland, Oregon.
- The term is Summer 2027, running from mid-June through early September.
- This position is paid at a rate of $42.00 per hour.
