About the role#
The Palm Beach County Public Defender's Office offers internships for Master's of Social Work students. You will gain experience in a client-centered environment by working alongside social workers, attorneys, and staff. This role focuses on case management and direct support for clients navigating the legal system.
What you'll do#
- Shadow a mental health social worker to observe daily tasks.
- Build skills in interviewing, assessment, and case management.
- Assist attorneys and clients based on specific case requirements.
- Work with juvenile probation cases to help offenders meet their probation requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a first-year MSW student or interest in volunteering.
- Prior approval from your university if you intend to earn academic credit.
- A commitment of at least 16 hours per week.
