About the role#
The Service Project Intern supports the Service Department in Wichita. You will work alongside Service Project Managers to gain hands-on experience in the mechanical service contracting industry. This role provides exposure to project management, field operations, estimating, and client relations.
What you'll do#
- Support project coordination, scheduling, and documentation tasks.
- Assist with the preparation of proposals, project estimates, and change orders.
- Visit job sites to observe quality control, safety practices, and project progress.
- Track project costs, subcontractor invoices, and purchase orders.
- Review project specifications and drawings to understand scope requirements.
- Learn about budgeting, project planning, and client communication during team meetings.
- Gain exposure to field dispatch operations, preventive maintenance, and service agreements.
- Collaborate with accounting, engineering, and field technician teams.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor degree program for Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.
- Sophomore or Junior standing at the time of application.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Interest in a career within the service contracting industry.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and spreadsheet software.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Valid driver license and access to a well-maintained vehicle with current registration and personal insurance.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record check.
- Ability to meet P1 Group qualifications for operating a vehicle on company business.
