About the role#
The Department of Animal and Rangeland Sciences is hiring a Student Crew Member to assist at the Dairy Center. This role involves the daily care of cows and heifers, along with general facility maintenance. You will work in an off-campus setting and must be able to adapt to changing environments and learn new animal husbandry techniques. This is a part-time position with a rolling term.
What you'll do#
- Provide daily care for cows and heifers.
- Perform milking duties during early morning and late afternoon shifts.
- Clean stalls and manage feeding and watering.
- Assist with calf care and general facility upkeep.
- Handle various crop and grazing duties as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in high school, community college, or university.
- Ability to meet academic standing and minimum enrollment requirements.
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to different work environments.
- A reliable form of transportation to reach the off-campus facility.
- A current, valid driver's license.
- Successful completion of a criminal history check and a Motor Vehicle History Check.
- Availability to work at least two weekends per month, including some holidays and breaks.
- Ability to work early morning or evening shifts around your class schedule.
- Physical ability to maneuver items up to 50 pounds, stoop, bend, and kneel.
