About the role#
Orano is looking for a Communications Intern to join our team in Oak Ridge, Tennessee for the summer of 2027. You will support the development and implementation of communication strategies for Project IKE, our multi-billion dollar uranium enrichment facility. This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship.
What you'll do#
- Write and edit external communication materials, including press releases, articles, social media posts, presentations, talking points, and website content.
- Assist with corporate community engagement efforts involving local schools, colleges, universities, and regional municipalities.
- Attend public meetings and regional events related to Project IKE.
- Help manage the organization's public image and assist with media relations, including outreach and responding to inquiries.
- Create and update internal communications content.
- Ensure all materials follow Orano's branding, messaging, and graphics requirements.
- Assess, compile, and format actionable metrics.
- Perform special projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in mass communications, journalism, public relations, media studies, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience or coursework in at least two of the following: communications, public relations, media, or journalism.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex, technical information into clear narratives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Familiarity with using artificial intelligence for communications tasks.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams.
- Professional maturity and the ability to work in a high-stakes environment.
- Demonstrated interest in nuclear energy, domestic energy policy, or large-scale capital project development.
- Creativity and initiative.
- French language proficiency is a plus.
