About the role#
As an AI Research Intern, you will research and prototype foundation models using OnePay's customer, transaction, and merchant data. You will work on real modeling problems, run experiments, and build prototypes. Your work will support our product, engineering, and analytics teams to improve customer experience and operational efficiency. This role reports to the Head of AI/ML.
What you'll do#
- Research, design, and train foundation models using transformer or graph-based architectures.
- Run experiments and evaluate results to develop working prototypes.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes.
- Contribute to projects that deliver a better customer experience.
What you'll need#
- You are a final-year graduate student (Master's or PhD) in Engineering or a related field.
- You have a strong grasp of deep learning fundamentals like backpropagation, attention, embeddings, optimization, and training dynamics.
- You have experience implementing, training, or fine-tuning models in PyTorch or an equivalent framework.
- You have completed at least one previous internship in research, machine learning, or software engineering, or have finished substantial personal or academic projects.
- You are familiar with transformer-based architectures, including pre-training, fine-tuning, and inference.
- You have exposure to graph-based learning or GNNs.
- You have completed coursework or projects involving LLMs or Generative AI.
- You have research output such as publications, workshop papers, or open-source contributions.
- You possess an act-like-an-owner mentality and clear communication skills.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, 8-week program running from June 21 to August 13, 2027.
- You must be able to work in our New York City office 3-4 days a week.
- This position is paid.
