About the role#
The Process Engineer Intern improves the safety, quality, and efficiency of manufacturing processes. You will work in both individual and team settings to support corporate efficiency. This role involves project management, design review, testing, implementation, and validation of system solutions.
What you'll do#
- Drive machine and process improvements through targeted process control.
- Improve process capability through analysis and new equipment investments.
- Design equipment modifications to minimize safety hazards and ensure safe operation.
- Incorporate safe work practices and ergonomic injury prevention into manufacturing processes.
- Manage engineering lab spaces and the 3D print lab.
- Coordinate the specification, procurement, and installation of new equipment.
- Provide manufacturing insight for new or modified product projects.
- Monitor and improve preventive maintenance procedures.
- Oversee engineering documentation and prepare specifications.
- Write and update work instructions, calibration instructions, and test procedures.
- Maintain accurate engineering masters and quality documentation through cross-functional work.
- Lead and report progress on key projects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 4-year Engineering program.
- Strong technical and mechanical skills.
- Effective time management.
- Clear communication skills, including speaking, presenting, and technical writing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and enterprise applications.
- CAD experience is desired, with Solidworks 3D preferred.
- 3D printing experience, including modeling, slicing, and printing, is preferred.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Grand Rapids, MI.
- The role is on-site in a manufacturing environment.
- You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- You will be required to wear various levels of cleanroom gowning.
- This is a full-time, paid internship with a rolling term.
