Olde Towne Animal Hospital offers a flexible externship and preceptorship program for veterinary students. This program provides practical experience in a contemporary small animal practice, designed to build your problem-solving, technical, and communication skills under the guidance of a mentor doctor. Externships typically range from two to eight weeks, with schedules that include days, evenings, and weekends.
What you'll do#
- Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans for medical cases.
- Assist in the management of medical cases and provide wellness care.
- Scrub into surgeries and participate in all aspects of patient care.
- Produce appropriate medical records, including SOAPs.
- Work with a mentor to meet specific learning objectives and receive a final performance evaluation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Professional liability insurance.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
