About the role#
The Oklahoma Department of Human Services is seeking a Child Welfare Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This is an unpaid, full-time, on-site internship designed for students who need to complete practicum or internship hours for their degree program. We accept students pursuing degrees in Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, Nursing, Public Health, or Human Resources.
What you'll do#
- Research and review topics related to Child Welfare, including program policies and practice standards.
- Shadow and support Child Welfare workers during daily casework activities.
- Assist specialists with data entry, service referrals, and the creation of individualized service plans.
- Help facilitate family time and co-facilitate interviews or court proceedings.
- Document your internship activities and experiences throughout the term.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Associates, Bachelor's, or Master's degree program that requires an internship or practicum.
- An understanding of Child Welfare ethics and policies.
- A willingness to assist with casework and maintain accurate documentation of your work.
