Student Activities Specialist

About the role#

The Student Activities Specialist is a 10-month, full-time professional staff position based at the Senatobia campus. This role focuses on enhancing student engagement through the management of intramural sports, recreational facilities, and campus events. The position reports to the Director of Student Activities and requires availability Monday through Thursday, from 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

What you'll do#

• Plan and implement recreation, student activities, and intramural sports to meet student needs.
• Oversee daily operations of campus facilities, including the Student Fitness Center, indoor gym, and the Ranger Outdoor Complex, ensuring they are clean and functional.
• Manage administrative tasks such as facility requests, budget support, and the creation of promotional materials for events.
• Maintain detailed records of event attendance, program evaluations, and equipment inventory.
• Collaborate with campus departments to ensure the seamless execution of student activities.
• Hire, train, supervise, and schedule work-study student workers, providing mentorship and maintaining accurate documentation of their performance and hours.
• Monitor student conduct in all facilities and at all events.

What you'll need#

• High School Diploma.
• Experience working with the community, students, or youth.
• Previous experience in intramurals, sports, or competition management.
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with diverse individuals.
• Patience and a high level of energy.

• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 pounds, and frequently stand, walk, kneel, climb stairs, bend, and twist.
