About the role#
Nortech Systems is hiring an Engineering Intern to support our manufacturing and design teams in Bemidji. This is a part-time, paid position that offers hands-on experience with electro-mechanical devices, tooling, and complex assemblies. You will work on a rolling basis to support projects that contribute to our medical, industrial, and aerospace products.
What you'll do#
- Design and test electro-mechanical devices, components, and fixtures.
- Draft and update engineering drawings and models.
- Assist with product testing, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Research suppliers and maintain accurate parts lists.
- Present your research and testing findings to engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Coordinate with cross-functional groups like supply chain and finance to solve problems.
- Communicate with customers and suppliers as needed.
What you'll need#
- You are currently working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Robotics engineering.
- Experience reading and creating detailed engineering specifications.
- Proficiency with CAD software and engineering design tools.
- A background in hands-on lab work, including fabrication, assembly, and troubleshooting.
- Experience working within an engineering project team to improve products or components.
- Strong communication skills for presenting ideas in writing and orally.
- Proficiency with standard office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- General knowledge of engineering terminology, with specialized knowledge in your field of study preferred.

- Pay: $22.30 to $24.90 per hour, based on experience, education, and local labor market factors.
