Nokia's Optical Systems Group is seeking a Product Development Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This role focuses on digital-optical integration for next-generation coherent pluggable engines. You will work with prototype photonic integrated circuits, analog ASICs, and control systems to design and implement calibration algorithms that improve system-level performance.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate DSP ASICs, analog high-speed ASICs, and optics for next-generation coherent pluggable modules.
- Develop, simulate, and optimize algorithms to enhance system-level performance and functionality.
- Build and maintain lab setups for the calibration, characterization, and testing of advanced optical systems.
- Conduct performance measurements and analysis to provide actionable insights for product improvement.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a PhD in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
- Advanced understanding of optimization algorithms and methods.
- Fundamental knowledge of optical communication systems, photonic integrated components, and electronic circuits.
- Hands-on experience with system-level optical communication hardware.
- Proficiency in high-speed optical and electrical test equipment.
- Programming experience in MATLAB and Python.
