About the role#
Nitsch Engineering is hiring a Civil Site Engineering Co-op for the Summer 2027 term in Richmond, Virginia. This role focuses on applying engineering fundamentals to civil system design. You will work on a task-by-task basis, learning to translate theoretical knowledge into practical results under the direction of the Director of Civil Engineering.
What you'll do#
- Perform CAD drafting and routine design tasks including pipe sizing, drainage area calculations, utility design, and roadway layout.
- Create and work from construction detail drawings.
- Produce graphs, charts, and isometric drawings using CAD software.
- Input data into pre-written computer programs.
- Prepare cost and quantity estimates when requested.
- Develop construction drawings based on your own designs or provided sketches.
- Solve engineering problems using your education and judgment, while asking for assistance as needed.
- Maintain an organized workspace to support team access to project information.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited university engineering program or a college-level technical program.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Experience with AutoCAD is preferred.
