About the role#
The New York Mets are looking for a Data Science intern to join our Baseball Analytics department for the summer of 2027. You will support our Baseball Operations team by developing statistical models that help inform organizational decisions. This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Queens.
What you'll do#
- Build and test statistical models to answer baseball-related questions.
- Interpret data and report your findings.
- Present model outputs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with the Baseball Analytics team and other Baseball Operations staff to define research project parameters.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in R or Python.
- A solid background in various statistical techniques.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Strong communication skills.
- Prior experience in a quantitative role or knowledge of baseball is a plus.
