About the role#
This is a paid internship for students looking to gain clinical experience under professional supervision. You will work with a diverse clientele in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, to provide mental health services and support for individuals and families. This role is on-site and runs during the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Provide clinical services including screening, intakes, and treatment planning.
- Observe and shadow qualified staff members during their daily work.
- Perform crisis intervention and risk assessments to promote client stability.
- Manage administrative tasks, client evaluations, and education.
- Document services, authorizations, and medical necessity standards.
- Integrate psychosocial and medical history into individualized treatment plans.
- Deliver evidence-based services and monitor the need for continued care or changes in intensity.
- Communicate with team members and collateral sources.
- Participate in regular staff meetings.
What you'll need#
- A completed bachelor’s degree.
- Enrollment in a master’s or doctoral program in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Counseling, Professional Counseling, or a similar field.
- A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of current auto insurance.
- Ability to receive supervision from an APRN, LCSW, LP, LPCC, LPP, LMFT, MSW, PMHNP, psychiatrist, or psychologist.
- If pursuing a PMHNP internship, you must hold a valid RN license.
- Experience working with individuals or families facing mental health, behavioral, or substance abuse conditions is preferred.
