    About the role#

Nessie Labs is building a shared context layer for recursive companies. We are a small team, and as an intern, you will work directly with the founders. You will own a real piece of the product, ship it to production, and see how users interact with your work. You will receive a scoped project in your first week and contribute to our core infrastructure.

    What you'll do#

Your work will focus on one or two of the following areas:

    • Data ingestion: Build source connectors for AI chat apps, coding agents, meeting recorders, notes apps, and email.
    • Search and retrieval: Make thousands of sessions and documents queryable in milliseconds across local and cloud environments.
    • Agent systems: Build self-improving agents by mining traces for failures and workflows, then proposing reviewable edits.
    • Agent-facing surfaces: Develop our CLI, MCP connector, and plugins to help AI tools access team context.
    • Ontology: Work on derived fields, conflict resolution, and maintaining the live state of a company as new work arrives.
    • Product experience: Improve the user experience from first launch through daily feature usage.

    What you'll need#

    • You have shipped a real project, such as a hackathon build or a personal tool you use daily.
    • You are comfortable learning a new stack quickly, as we work across native desktop apps, CLIs, background daemons, and cloud backends.
    • You reach for AI tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex instinctively to move faster.
    • You have the instinct to ship before a project is perfect.
    • You possess autonomy and problem-solving skills. We provide context and feedback, but you will define the solution to your assigned problems.
    • You have opinions on the products you use and how they could be improved.
    • You are comfortable with ambiguity, as our product priorities shift quickly.

    Location & details#

    • Location: San Francisco, California.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Term: Rolling.
    • Compensation: $4,000 to $8,000 per month.
    • Benefits: Expensed meals in the office and a flight stipend to San Francisco.
    • Employment: This is a full-time, paid internship with a potential path to a full-time offer.
