About the role#
This coop program provides students with hands-on experience in diesel technology. You will combine classroom learning with work in our shops to build technical skills. The program is designed to help you transition into a full-time career as a Caterpillar Service Technician upon graduation.
What you'll do#
- Work alongside experienced technicians to diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy equipment.
- Assist with inspections and preventative maintenance in shop and field environments.
- Learn Caterpillar systems and repair techniques.
- Participate in technical training and professional development.
- Develop safe work habits and follow company policies.
- Represent the company professionally at work, school, and in the community.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment or plans to enroll in an NMC-approved Diesel Technology program.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
- Strong attendance record and a positive attitude.
- Maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
- Make satisfactory progress toward graduation within 24 months.
