About the role#
The Cause Research Institute at National University is hiring a part-time, project-based Doctoral Research Assistant. This role supports applied research and evaluation initiatives, specifically the United 4 Youth Learning and Evaluation Project. You will work under the mentorship of the Faculty Principal Investigator to gain hands-on experience with equity-centered, mixed-methods research.
What you'll do#
- Implement evaluation activities such as interviews, focus groups, surveys, and observations.
- Manage data through cleaning, organization, and preparation for analysis.
- Perform qualitative coding and thematic analysis.
- Run descriptive statistics and basic trend analysis.
- Map processes and document workflows and partnership dynamics.
- Synthesize findings to answer evaluation questions.
- Create reports, learning briefs, and data visualizations.
- Translate research findings into insights for diverse audiences.
- Participate in team meetings, partner convenings, and sensemaking sessions.
What you'll need#
- A Master’s degree in psychology, organizational leadership, public administration, or education.
- Current enrollment in a doctoral program at National University in a related field.
- Experience with graduate-level research methods.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical and critical thinking ability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Knowledge of equity-centered, participatory, or community-engaged research.
- Experience working with diverse or underserved populations.
- Familiarity with tools like NVivo, SPSS, or R is preferred.
- Prior experience in program evaluation or community-based research is a plus.
