IT Desktop Intern

About the role#

The IT Desktop Intern role provides hands-on experience in a corporate business environment. This position involves direct support for hardware and software deployment, inventory management, and technical troubleshooting. Interns work on-site in Omaha and must be able to commit to the role for at least one year while maintaining a full-time course load.

What you'll do#

• Configure, assemble, and install hardware components for new personal computers.
• Install, configure, and upgrade software on workstations.
• Reconfigure existing systems to meet user requirements.
• Test hardware and software setups to ensure equipment is fully operational for end users.
• Document computer configurations, inventory information, and established installation processes.
• Perform light programming for small Intranet and Internet applications.
• Gain experience in PC deployment, network troubleshooting, hardware repair, and help desk operations.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a freshman or sophomore.
• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Assurance, MIS, or an equivalent field.
• Ability to configure personal computer hardware and related software.
• Proficiency with Windows 10 and the Office Suite.
• Familiarity with networking and client/server applications.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
