About the role#
MSI is offering a 10-week summer 2027 internship program for students interested in commercial underwriting. This program introduces you to our technology, people, and internal processes. You will work alongside our underwriting team, participate in mentorship opportunities, and attend enrichment sessions with company leaders. We aim to provide a practical learning environment that prepares you for a potential future in our full-time Rotational Analyst Program.
What you'll do#
- Participate in a comprehensive 10-week learning program.
- Gain hands-on experience by working on specific projects and assignments.
- Apply your academic knowledge to real-world insurance scenarios.
- Pull requested loss runs for accounts.
- Assist with the submission intake process.
- Complete non-monetary endorsements, such as mailing address changes.
- Enter risk information into the rater system for quoting purposes.
- Shadow team members across various departments to learn our business and workflow.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business, Economics, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
- A demonstrated interest in risk management and insurance.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within diverse teams.
- Demonstrated leadership potential through academic, extracurricular, or volunteer activities.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools like SQL, Tableau, or Python is considered a plus.
- Previous internship or work experience in a related field is preferred.
