About the role#
MSI Defense Solutions is seeking a Finance & Operations Intern to support our finance team with daily operations. This role provides hands-on experience in government contracting, budgeting, and financial administration. You will report to the Chief Financial Officer and work on-site at our Mooresville facility.
What you'll do#
- Retrieve and distribute budget worksheets to Program Managers.
- Enter supplier and vendor quotations into budget templates and pricing spreadsheets.
- Assist in preparing financial data for government and commercial proposals.
- Support the finance department with budget updates, revisions, and data validation.
- Organize and maintain electronic proposal files and financial records.
- Review spreadsheets for accuracy and consistency.
- Gather labor rates, material costs, and subcontractor quotes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect financial information.
- Prepare reports and perform basic financial analysis using Microsoft Excel.
- Assist with month-end activities and general administrative tasks.
- Maintain the confidentiality of proprietary company information.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Recent graduates seeking practical experience are also encouraged to apply.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple assignments.
- High level of integrity.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
Location & details#
- Location: Mooresville, North Carolina.
- Schedule: Part-time, Monday through Thursday, 7:00am to 4:30pm and Friday, 7:00am to 12:00pm.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Physical requirements include prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, and the ability to lift 15 pounds.
