About the role#
The Economic Development Intern will support the Mobility and Development department at MORPC. This role involves working on regional economic programs, including Competitive Advantage, Local Economic Assistance, Freight Planning, and CEDS/EDD. You will contribute to the team by conducting research, preparing materials, and assisting with regional project coordination.
What you'll do#
- Gather, summarize, and analyze data regarding economic impact, demographics, and regional outlook.
- Prepare factsheets to distill information from Notice of Funding Opportunities.
- Create flyers, presentations, and other marketing materials for the team.
- Communicate with internal departments, county partners, and key stakeholders.
- Assist with the content and format of the Drive Investment newsletter.
- Conduct online research on topics related to housing, infrastructure, and community development.
- Attend webinars and external meetings, including CEDS Committee sessions.
- Help organize and plan workshops and events.
- Make presentations at meetings and perform special projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university, preferably as an upper-class undergraduate or graduate student.
- Preferred fields of study include Urban and Regional Planning, Public Policy, Economics, or Public Administration.
- Strong interest in regional planning and community development.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
- Experience with Canva, ArcGIS, or Adobe InDesign is helpful.
