About the role#
As a Survey Technician Intern, you will work with experienced professionals to support land surveying services. You will assist with construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey projects. This role provides hands-on experience and mentorship on real-world projects.
What you'll do#
- Operate instrumentation for survey data collection, including total stations, data collectors, and levels.
- Manage survey data by transmitting files to the network and acquiring data for field use.
- Record readings and station numbers in notebooks.
- Mark measurement points with elevations or other identifying marks.
- Measure distances between points using tape or surveyor chains.
- Drive stakes into the ground at specified elevations and locations.
- Cut survey lines and carry equipment throughout the day.
- Set and locate monuments.
- Maintain the survey vehicle by loading and unloading equipment and restocking supplies like stakes and flagging.
What you'll need#
- A High School diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering or Land Surveying degree program.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to be insured.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as strenuous walking and lifting between 50 and 100 pounds.
- Availability to work weekends and overtime if the project requires it.

- Compensation: $22.54 to $26.95 per hour, depending on qualifications.
