As a QA Automation Engineering Intern at MOON POWER, you will function as a developer responsible for building the infrastructure that allows the engineering team to ship code with confidence. Because the company does not have a dedicated QA team, engineering owns quality, and you will be tasked with building automated test suites, CI/CD test gates, and regression coverage across the React/Capacitor frontend and .NET backend. You will report to the Sr. Engineering Manager and work across frontend, backend, and data engineering tracks. Your test code will be held to the same standards as production code and will be subject to professional review.
What you'll do#
- Build automated test coverage for frontend (React/Capacitor) and backend (.NET API) components.
- Establish and extend CI/CD test gates to prevent untested code from merging.
- Create and maintain a regression test suite for core application flows.
- Identify and systematically close coverage gaps across the full stack.
- Document testing standards and coverage expectations for the engineering team.
- Utilize AI tools such as Cursor, Copilot, or Claude to accelerate test generation and maintain coverage at scale.
- Critically evaluate AI-generated test output to ensure it effectively catches failures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Computer Science, Data Science, or Computer Engineering program.
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript or C#.
- Experience with at least one testing framework, such as Jest, Cypress, Playwright, xUnit, NUnit, or pytest.
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
- Active usage of AI tools and a strong interest in applying them to test generation.
- A mindset that treats test code with the same rigour as production code.
Location & details#
- Location: Glendale, California.
- Modality: On-site (3 days per week) with flexibility for academic schedules.
- Term: Rolling.
- Employment type: Full-time, paid internship.
- Note: Sponsorship is not available for this position.
