About the role#
The Engineering Associate, Instrumentation & Controls is an entry-level role focused on supporting the design, documentation, and implementation of instrumentation and control systems for gas turbine and power plant projects. This position provides the opportunity to develop technical skills while assisting senior engineers with project execution and learning core industry principles.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers with instrumentation and control system design activities.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of engineering documentation, including instrument datasheets, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, and I/O lists.
- Learn how instrumentation is selected, specified, and integrated into gas turbine and balance-of-plant systems.
- Verify instrumentation against P&IDs and engineering specifications.
- Support the preparation of technical specifications and Requests for Quotation (RFQs).
- Review vendor documentation and assist with technical comparisons.
- Assist in troubleshooting engineering issues under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Participate in design reviews and collaborate with project engineers, designers, and procurement personnel.
- Support continuous improvement and standardization initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
- Strong interest in instrumentation, controls, industrial automation, or power generation.
- Basic understanding of engineering fundamentals and electrical principles.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment with strong analytical and communication skills.
- Exposure to AutoCAD, 3D modeling, database work, or PLC knowledge is considered a plus.
