About the role#
Mission Road Animal Clinic offers an externship program for veterinary students to gain practical experience in a small animal practice. This program supports your transition from the classroom to clinical practice by providing hands-on experience under the guidance of a mentor doctor. You will work alongside our veterinary team to manage patient care and meet the learning objectives defined by your college program.
What you'll do#
- Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans for medical cases.
- Scrub in to surgery and assist in surgical procedures.
- Provide wellness care and manage general medical cases.
- Develop client communication skills.
- Produce medical records and SOAPs within daily practice time limits.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Current professional liability insurance.
- Ability to maintain professional behavior and follow the Veterinary Practice Act.
Location & details#
- Location: Prairie Village, Kansas.
- Modality: On-site.
- Term: Rolling, with externships typically lasting two to eight weeks.
- Schedule: Includes days, evenings, and weekends.
- Compensation: A stipend of $250 per week is provided.
