About the role#
Mindex is looking for a Software Engineer Co-Op to join our team for a two-block program from January 2027 to August 2027. You will gain hands-on experience building, testing, and delivering software solutions within a collaborative Agile environment. This role is paid at $22 per hour. You will work alongside Scrum team members and stakeholders to learn software development best practices and the responsible use of AI tools to improve efficiency and innovation.
What you'll do#
- Bring an AI-first mindset to improve productivity, solve problems, and automate routine tasks.
- Collaborate with Scrum team members and stakeholders on plans, designs, specifications, source code, test scripts, and documentation.
- Build a foundational understanding of debugging concepts and troubleshooting tools.
- Grow your technical knowledge through mentorship from senior engineers.
- Develop an awareness of overall service architecture while avoiding code duplication.
- Apply security principles throughout the software design, development, and delivery process.
What you'll need#
- At least three years of education or prior Co-op experience in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- Familiarity with Java, Angular, Oracle, OpenShift, Python, or ASP.NET.
- Knowledge of object-oriented programming, RESTful web services, and relational databases.
- Experience with test automation and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- A self-starter mindset with the ability to contribute working software and test scripts.
- Sound judgment regarding the ethical and secure use of AI technologies.
- Curiosity about emerging AI capabilities and an interest in using them to streamline workflows.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Rochester, New York.
- You must be available to work on-site at least three days per week, with five days per week preferred.
