About the role#
The Smart Manufacturing & AI (SMAI) organization develops AI-enabled solutions that drive operational efficiency and innovation at Micron. As an AI Engineering Intern, you will design, develop, and support software solutions that address real-world business challenges. You will work on full stack applications, AI agents, and LLM integrations while gaining experience with production-grade AI technologies and cloud-native architectures.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, and test AI-enabled software applications using modern programming languages, web technologies, and cloud-based architectures.
- Build and integrate AI capabilities such as LLMs, AI agents, retrieval systems, and automation solutions into enterprise applications.
- Collaborate with engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools and automation frameworks to improve software quality and delivery efficiency.
- Research and prototype emerging AI technologies while contributing to software documentation and operational excellence.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date of September 2027 or later.
- 0-2 years of relevant experience through internships, projects, coursework, or hackathons.
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
- Experience with at least one programming language such as Python, C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Java.
- Familiarity with relational or NoSQL database technologies.
- Demonstrated experience using AI-enabled tools and LLMs like Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini.
- Knowledge of AI agents, generative AI, prompt engineering, RAG, vector databases, and agentic workflows.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, cloud platforms, containerization, DevOps tools, or CI/CD methodologies.
- Experience using Git for source control.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
