About the role#
The HBM Platform Architecture team defines the electrical, thermal, and power-delivery architectures for Micron's next-generation High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) solutions. You will work alongside architects to evaluate design trade-offs, build modeling tools, and investigate solutions to improve the performance, power efficiency, and scalability of future memory products.
What you'll do#
- Perform signaling and timing analysis for on-die and off-die interfaces across various system and packaging topologies.
- Develop and evaluate thermal models to analyze heat transfer, thermal performance, and design trade-offs.
- Analyze power delivery networks, including IR-drop, electromigration, power integrity, and grid optimization.
- Create modeling, simulation, and automation tools to support power delivery, thermal analysis, and architecture evaluation.
- Collaborate with architecture, design, packaging, and technology teams to evaluate system-level trade-offs.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 0-2 years of relevant experience through internships, research, or academic projects in areas like VLSI design, signal integrity, or thermal analysis.
- Coursework or project experience with analog design, I/O design, signaling, DRAM technologies, or 2.5D/3D integration.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, datasheets, and hardware documentation.
- Experience using AI-enabled tools like Copilot, Claude, or ChatGPT in engineering workflows.
- Familiarity with Python for developing automation tools, simulation environments, or data analysis workflows.
- Knowledge of Cadence EDA tools, MATLAB, or other engineering software is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Folsom, California
- Work Modality: On-site
- Position Type: Full-time internship
