About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in manufacturing performance analysis and process optimization. You will work within our Operations department to support efforts in improving packaging line performance, reducing bottlenecks, and identifying opportunities for labor efficiency. This is a 16-week program based in American Canyon.
What you'll do#
- Observe packaging lines in operation and map process flows from depalletizing to case packing.
- Apply Industrial Engineering methods, including time study, cycle time analysis, takt time, and line balancing.
- Collect detailed cycle time data for each station and record operator performance.
- Calculate and interpret OEE-related metrics to identify process imbalances.
- Use collected data to evaluate workload distribution and simulate line balance improvements.
- Trial small changes to layout, sequence, or job rotation in collaboration with operators and supervisors.
- Standardize improved methods by updating standard work charts and SOPs.
- Present your process optimization findings to the Continuous Improvement and Operations leadership teams.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a junior or senior in college.
- Pursuing a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering, or a related manufacturing discipline.
- Ability to work on-site in American Canyon.
