About the role#
Metropolis Technologies is hiring a Risk Management Intern for Summer 2027. You will contribute to our risk management department by generating loss models and analyses to help reduce our total cost of risk. This is a full-time, paid, hybrid internship based in our Chicago office.
What you'll do#
- Generate and reconcile key metrics and provide analysis for the department.
- Participate in strategy meetings and prepare data for annual policy renewals.
- Review and monitor insurance documentation, ensuring compliance and communicating information in agreements.
- Assist the safety function in creating and distributing loss control material.
- Conduct research by compiling and analyzing risk management data to provide recommendations.
- Prepare reports that define, establish, and analyze KPIs.
- Gain experience in property, casualty, and management liability insurance and surety markets.
- Shadow professionals in roles such as Broker, Actuary, Claims Administrator, and Underwriter.
What you'll need#
- Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field.
- Strong academic performance, with a preferred minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Experience working with data, interpreting results, and making recommendations.
- Strong attention to detail plus clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Experience using AI tools to improve workflows.
- A driven personality and the ambition to learn corporate risk management functions.

- Location: Chicago, Illinois.
- Term: 12 weeks, starting early Summer 2027.
- Modality: Hybrid, with an office-first model requiring at least four days per week on-site.
