About the role#
The CEI Inspector-Engineer Intern supports Senior Inspectors and Senior Engineer Interns with the monitoring and documentation of transportation construction projects. This is a full-time, paid position based in Ft. Myers, Florida. It is suitable for those pursuing a career in civil engineering, construction management, or transportation inspection.
What you'll do#
- Assist the Senior Inspector with daily inspection tasks.
- Document construction activities, materials, and compliance.
- Monitor contractor operations for adherence to FDOT standards.
- Support field testing, measurements, and reporting.
- Maintain accurate project records and logs.
- Work outdoors on active construction sites.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- The ability to interpret plans, specifications, and project documentation.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
- For degree-holding candidates: Ability to obtain required certifications within one year. Engineer Intern classification requires an EI certificate.
- For non-degree candidates: Two years of construction inspection experience, including at least one year of bridge or roadway construction experience.
- Willingness to obtain necessary certifications, such as CTQP levels, MOT, and safety training, within six months of hire under an approved training plan.
