About the role#
Mesirow is seeking a software development intern for the Summer 2027 program. You will join our IT department to gain hands-on experience by contributing to real-world projects. This is a full-time, paid position based in our Chicago office.
What you'll do#
- Own a defined project from initial requirements through to final delivery.
- Present a working demo of your project at the end of the program.
- Modify, maintain, and enhance software applications using C#, Python, SQL, and JavaScript.
- Translate business needs into functional code.
- Provide support and maintenance duties as needed.
- Collaborate with the software development team, end-users, and management to define requirements.
- Participate as a member of an agile Scrum team, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and reviews.
- Use Azure DevOps and Git for work tracking and source control.
- Learn modern engineering practices, such as code review, cloud-native development, and the responsible use of AI-assisted tools.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Development.
- Expected graduation date in May 2028.
- A minimum GPA of 3.5.
- Sound programming and data fundamentals, including Object Oriented, ETL, Procedural, and Functional concepts.
- Coursework or project experience in at least one of C#, Python, SQL, or JavaScript.
- Proficiency with all Microsoft Office products.
- Strong analytical and math skills.
- The ability to work well in teams and interact with various levels of personnel.
- The ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
- Familiarity with Git, version control, cloud platforms like Azure, and AI-assisted development tools is preferred.
