About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship at Mesa View Regional Hospital. You will assist with clinical and administrative tasks to support patient care in our clinics. The role requires on-site work in Mesquite, Nevada, and operates on a rolling basis.
What you'll do#
- Prepare patients for exams by taking histories, vital signs, medication lists, and immunization records.
- Assist physicians during treatments and examinations.
- Perform clinical tasks including giving injections, conducting phlebotomies, applying dressings, and using pulse oximeters.
- Maintain exam rooms, sterilize equipment, and manage clinical supplies.
- Document patient information and procedures accurately within the electronic medical record system.
- Coordinate with the billing department and assist with scheduling tests or treatments.
- Ensure all diagnostic orders are distributed correctly and retrieve lab or X-ray results for physicians.
- Follow HIPAA privacy policies to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Attend required meetings and participate in committees.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Current AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- A commitment to take the Medical Assistant certification exam within 3 months of finishing the internship.
- Ability to maintain calm and effective communication in a clinical setting.
