About the role#
Meritus Health is hiring Student Nurse Externs for the Summer 2027 term. This position allows nursing students to gain hands-on clinical experience while supporting our nursing teams in inpatient units. You will apply your classroom learning to a real-world healthcare setting.
What you'll do#
- Assist nursing staff with basic patient care under supervision.
- Support patient safety, comfort, and daily care activities.
- Observe and participate in clinical procedures as permitted by your scope and training.
- Communicate with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Follow all Meritus policies and maintain patient confidentiality.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited ADN or BSN nursing program with one year or less until graduation.
- Completion of a Med Surg clinical rotation.
- Completion of Fundamentals or Foundations of Nursing.
- Active BLS certification or the ability to obtain one before the start date.
- A GPA of 3.0 or better, verified by a submitted transcript.
- Two letters of recommendation, including one from a clinical instructor.
- A letter of intent.
