About the role#
McClure Engineering is hiring a Designer Intern for our St. Louis office. This is a paid, full-time position with a hybrid work schedule. We are looking for students or graduates who want to gain hands-on experience in engineering services.
What you'll do#
- Perform design and layout tasks, including duct and pipe sizing, equipment room layouts, and flow diagrams.
- Coordinate with designers, drafters, and engineers to ensure project success.
- Review drawings for quality, clarity, and consistency with office standards and building codes.
- Conduct field inspections to verify and document existing site conditions.
- Share project information and coordinate equipment locations with internal team members, architects, and clients.
What you'll need#
- Completed or currently pursuing at least the first year of an Associate Degree in Drafting, Design, or a related field.
- Coursework covering the design, layout, and sizing of mechanical piping and ductwork.
- Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD or Revit.
- Ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D drawings.
- Competence in MS Office.
- Strong communication skills.
- A naturally curious mindset with the ability to take initiative and ownership of your work.

- Term: Rolling.
- Work Modality: Hybrid.
- Field work: Approximately 10% of your time will be spent at project or construction sites. You may need to stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift items over 50 pounds during these visits. PPE is provided.
