About the role#
This internship supports our project departments in quantifying materials and identifying resources for civil construction projects. You will work under the supervision of a mentor, either at a local project site or in our home office. This is a full-time, paid position that offers exposure to the heavy civil construction industry.
What you'll do#
- Read and interpret civil construction drawings to understand project specifications.
- Perform hand takeoffs for pipelines and track data in internal Excel sheets.
- Conduct quantity takeoffs for site work, including erosion control, roadways, curb and gutter, sidewalks, and aggregate surfacing.
- Develop skills in AGTEK Earthwork 3D and 4D software to import CAD drawings, digitize contour lines, and generate volume reports.
- Create KMZ files using AGTEK and Google Earth.
- Communicate with subcontractors to solicit proposals and relay job details.
- Manage and update our subcontractor vendor list and distribute bid invitations.
- Organize and share job documents using our Smartfile FTP site.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time student in a Civil Engineering, Project Management, or Construction Management degree program.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in time-sensitive situations.
- A detail-oriented approach with a focus on quality and process improvement.
- Initiative and willingness to learn new programs and systems.
