About the role#
As a Learning & Community Engagement Intern, you will join our Engagement team to deliver hands-on learning experiences for museum guests and school groups. You will work on-site in Raleigh to support our mission of sparking imagination through play. This position is unpaid and requires enrollment in a formal education class that offers academic credit for the internship.
What you'll do#
- Facilitate play-based learning programs for museum guests and early childhood participants, including occasional off-site support.
- Gather guest feedback through formal and informal surveys to help us improve our programs.
- Prepare materials for activities and assist with the setup and breakdown of event spaces.
- Interact with children and families in a professional, welcoming, and playful manner.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an academic program requiring an internship for credit.
- A degree path in Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Museum Studies, STEM Education, Recreation, Sociology, Communication, or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to engage with diverse families respectfully.
- Physical ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds.

- Location: Raleigh, North Carolina.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Schedule: Weekday availability is required, plus one weekend shift per week.
- Modality: On-site.
