About the role#
Maplewood Veterinary Center offers a hands-on externship and preceptorship program for students currently enrolled in an accredited Veterinary Technician program. This on-site, paid role provides practical experience alongside our team of veterinarians and support staff to help prepare you for your career after graduation.
What you'll do#
You will work directly with our clinical team to support daily operations and patient care. Your responsibilities include:
- Assisting with examinations, diagnostics, and treatments.
- Administering medications and vaccinations.
- Monitoring anesthesia during surgical procedures.
- Conducting laboratory tests such as bloodwork and urinalysis.
- Taking radiographs.
- Caring for hospitalized animals.
- Educating pet owners about preventive care.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Veterinary Technician program.
- A strong interest in animal care and a desire to learn.
