About the role#
This Software Engineer Internship is based within the Optimisation Core Technology Team, part of the Post Trade Engineering division in New York City. You will spend 12 weeks working alongside experienced engineers to solve real-world problems. This role is a full-time, hybrid position starting in June 2027.
What you'll do#
- Build and research improvements to applications and the development environment.
- Collaborate with the Product Development and Analytics teams to enhance services and leverage pricing algorithms.
- Design and build a new workflow to run data quality checks on client-submitted financial data.
- Develop internal portal screens for the Product team.
- Implement code to provide connectivity to external booking systems and trade stores.
- Enhance task queueing systems to improve resource utilization.
What you'll need#
- Currently in the penultimate year of undergraduate studies or final year of an undergraduate degree, with plans to continue into a Masters program for the 2027/28 academic year.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Solid understanding of Python for executable and repeatable programs, with a preference for experience with the PyData stack.
- Familiarity with the UNIX command line.
- Strong communication skills and an ability to analyze information to propose solutions.
- Curiosity for working with data.
- Experience with AWS or frontend development is considered a plus.
- Legal right to work in New York City without restrictions for the duration of the internship.
