About the role#
Linamar Corporation is hiring an Engineering Intern to join the team in Fletcher, North Carolina. This is a part-time, on-site, paid role. You will support the engineering team with documentation, design tasks, and machine operations. This position provides hands-on experience in engineering design and process management.
What you'll do#
- Create, update, and implement engineering documents such as ECRs, data sheets, and work instructions.
- Prepare and log engineering drawings, including process specifications and tooling drawings.
- Maintain master files for engineering documentation.
- Support Program Managers and Project Engineers with process-related tasks.
- Create detailed engineering drawings and update plant layouts.
- Set up and operate conventional, special-purpose, and CNC machines.
- Observe machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance parts.
- Verify workpiece conformance using precision measuring instruments.
- Conduct machine trial runs and perform tool changes.
- Document machine tool capability studies and ensure adherence to cycle time sheets.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Mechanical, Industrial, or Mechatronics engineering program at an accredited school, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software like AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and GD&T.
- Good report writing skills and the ability to manage project details in tables and forms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively.
- Willingness to take initiative and contribute to continuous improvement.
