Co-op, Materials Science, Electrosynthesis

About the role#

Lila Sciences is seeking an Electrochemistry Co-op to join the Physical Sciences team and support its electrosynthesis program. This role involves working alongside scientists to run experiments, characterize materials, and contribute to rigorous data generation, analysis, and documentation. You will contribute to the development of autonomous laboratory workflows with exposure to applied electrorefining and electrowinning research.

What you'll do#

• Conduct electrosynthesis experiments following established protocols and safety standards.
• Characterize products, electrolytes, and electrodes using analytical techniques.
• Analyze, visualize, and perform quality control on experimental data.
• Troubleshoot instruments, workflows, and data issues.
• Collaborate with engineering, software, and data teams to improve experimental workflows.
• Maintain thorough experimental documentation and communicate findings and next steps to the team.

What you'll need#

• Pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Environmental Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering.
• Hands-on electrochemistry experience, including electrodeposition, CV, CP, CA, EIS, LSV, or OCP.
• Experience with characterization techniques such as ICP, conductivity, pH, or surface roughness measurements.
• Experience handling corrosive or high-temperature solutions safely.
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis and visualization.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in hands-on technical work.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
