- Convert manual scientific protocols into automation concept designs through process mapping and step timing.
- Research new instruments and technologies to evaluate their fit with scientific workflows.
- Create system architecture diagrams, interface definitions, and concept design documentation.
- Maintain the federated factory layout model, including 3D models that account for robotics envelopes, hazard zones, and human ergonomics.
- Support feasibility assessments for automation opportunities and document best practices.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Biomedical, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Robotics, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of Python.
- Curiosity, attention to detail, and a willingness to work through unfamiliar problems.
- Clear communication skills and comfort working with people across different technical backgrounds.
- Experience with CAD, rapid prototyping, or 3D printing is preferred.
- Wet lab exposure, such as pipetting or sample handling, is a plus.
- Experience with automated liquid handlers, robotic arms, control systems, or microcontrollers is beneficial.
- Prior experience with robotics competitions, research labs, or iGEM-style teams is preferred.
