Student Operator/Labourer, Highway Maintenance

About the role#

This position offers a training-focused entry point into the highway maintenance industry. You will receive support to upgrade your Class 5 driver license to a Class 3 license, providing the necessary qualifications to perform winter and summer maintenance operations. This role is intended for individuals looking to build a stable career in infrastructure maintenance.

What you'll do#

• Support winter and summer maintenance operations across the province.
• Participate in a training program to upgrade your Class 5 driver license to a Class 3 license.
• Develop the skills required to become a safe and competent winter plow operator.
• Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50lbs and standing for extended periods.
• Work in various weather patterns, which involves shift work, on-call availability, and night shifts.

What you'll need#

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Possess a minimum Class 5 driver license without restrictions and a clean driver’s abstract.
• Ability to pass an Alberta medical exam and vision screening exam.
• Ability to pass industry-standard drug and alcohol testing.
• A strong commitment to safety and quality.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
