About the role#
The FirstGen College Success Fellow serves as a full-time AmeriCorps member with Corazón Healdsburg. This role focuses on supporting first-generation students by providing guidance through the college preparation process, including digital literacy training, college readiness workshops, and assistance with scholarship and financial aid applications. The fellow works under staff supervision to build capacity for student success and community development.
What you'll do#
- Support the First Gen Early College Counseling program by providing individualized and small-group assistance to students.
- Assist students with FAFSA completion, scholarship applications, and summer program opportunities.
- Help students build digital literacy skills and facilitate college readiness workshops.
- Manage the Summer Journals project by providing feedback to students and tracking participation progress.
- Develop and update an onboarding handbook for incoming students to provide clear, culturally relevant resources.
- Facilitate the contract renewal process for returning students, including outreach and documentation management.
- Maintain accurate service-related student records and track participation metrics for reporting purposes.
What you'll need#
- A passion for community service and interest in community development or digital inclusion.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Eligibility requirements: You must be a U.S. Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident, at least 17 years old, and hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Relevant academic backgrounds include Human Resources, Sociology, Psychology, Communications, or Public Health.
Location & details#
- Location: Healdsburg, California.
- Term: Fall 2026 (September 8, 2026, to August 13, 2027).
- Work Modality: This is an on-site, full-time position requiring approximately 40 hours per week.
