Layup Parts is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Intern to join the production team. This role focuses on supporting the manufacturing of high-quality composite parts by bridging the gap between customer designs and shop floor production. You will work on-site in Huntington Beach, California.
What you'll do#
- Design molds and tools for customer parts and maintain accurate documentation.
- Generate plies, kits, and projector data from customer designs.
- Support customers with production cost reduction and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) efforts to facilitate scaling.
- Engage directly with production to identify bottlenecks and implement scalable solutions to improve workflows.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering.
- Background or experience in composites manufacturing, whether through school projects, hobbies, or previous work.
- Proficiency in a professional CAD suite (such as NX, SolidWorks, or Catia) and the ability to create professional manufacturing drawings.
- Preferred experience includes designing for composites lamination, machining, and 3D printing, as well as familiarity with methods like vacuum infusion (VARTM), compression molding, or wet-layup.
- U.S. Persons status is required to access export-controlled data.
