About the role#
Layup Parts is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Intern to join our production team. This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship based in Huntington Beach, California. This role involves working directly with production processes to improve efficiency and support our customers' manufacturing needs.
What you'll do#
- Design molds and tools for customer parts while maintaining documentation.
- Generate plies, kits, and projector data from customer designs.
- Support customers with cost reduction and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) efforts to help scale production.
- Work hands-on with the production team to identify issues and bottlenecks.
- Develop and implement scalable solutions to improve production workflows.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering.
- Background or experience in composites manufacturing, such as through school projects, hobbies, or previous work.
- Proficiency in a professional CAD suite like NX, SolidWorks, or Catia.
- Ability to create professional drawings for manufacturing.
- U.S. Persons status is required to access export-controlled data.
- Preferred: Understanding of designing for composites lamination, machining, and 3D printing, as well as experience with vacuum infusion, compression molding, trapped rubber molding, or wet-layup.
